The motivation behind VRM Labs is to create a space to play, experiment and demonstrate technologies, tools and applications related to VRM. That means that they reflect, in full or in features, the principles that underpin the project’s vision.
The practical objective is to provide organisations interested in helping to move VRM along a way to do that, a mechanism to support the effort.
Although we firmly believe that VRM starts with the individual, we equally firmly believe in markets where relationship between vendors and customers can be non-adversarial and mutually benefitial.
VRM is not them versus us; it creates a situation where vendors face a real choice between behaving cooperatively with the customer or losing them, and a situation where customers also face a real choice, not merely a choice between silos.
The Web is a good start to redressing the current imbalance:
Customers and vendors are a locked see-saw with one hugely outweighing the former. Like with a real world see-saw, the fun is spoiled for both. Giving individuals tools to redress the balance, the pressure from customers should level the players.
So here, at VRM Labs, we will focus on those tools as well as articulation of the framework and principles that help develop and evolve them.
From learning about existing technologies that could be used for VRM, to directly developing or supporting development of such tools, VRM Labs will gather information and expertise to help companies to join in the project.
